The P-Word

Pain. It’s an ugly four-letter word.

We don’t really like to talk about it but most of us are inevitably going to experience it at some point in our lives.

I get it.

I’ve been there.

I’ve experienced it.

Pain has literally kept me up at night and  impacted my routines, my relationships, and my work.

Let’s face it, pain loves to creep up on us at the most opportune times. At your daughter’s dance recital, your son’s soccer game, or in the middle of an important presentation at work or school.

It’s not fun and it can be debilitating.

Nobody wants to feel pain.

Our natural tendency is to soothe our pain at-home with remedies like heat, stretching, over-the-counter drugs – after all, who wants to experience back pain, neck pain, headaches and all those other conditions that interrupt our daily lives?

But when those techniques cause your pain to continue because you’ve become an expert at masking the pain, then it becomes a problem.

So how do we kick pain to the curb?

Change something.

Change how you move, change how you’re breathing, change the forces you’re placing on your body.

Chiropractic adjustments, exercises that strengthen weak muscles, stretches and therapeutic massage that help release tight muscles, yoga to help you build better movement awareness and release stress.

All these things work to change your body and ease your pain.

Finding out why you’re out of balance and correcting those reasons will go a long way to increasing your health and wellness.
