Let’s face it, our kids have really loaded schedules these days. From swimming, to soccer, to dance, to hockey, the list never seems to end.
I’m guilty of it too – we put our kids in a plethora of extracurriculars just to keep them from getting bored and well, to keep them out of hair for a few hours so we can get dinner ready and get some down time.
But have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that your kids might be feeling stressed and anxious too, just like we feel when we have too much going on at once.
Sometimes, it’s a good idea to give our kids a breather and let them just chill.
With my own kids, I’ve found that incorporating regular massages into their lives really helps to mellow them out and release some of that pent up anxiety and tension.
Here are my top 3 reasons why every kid should get a massage:
- Increase their ability to concentrate
- Improve their sleep patterns – massage is ideal before bedtime
- Feel less irritable and hyperactive
In my practice, I see children as young as newborns and well into the teenage years. I usually recommend 30 minutes tops for kids 12 and under. That’s pretty much as long as they’ll sit still for anyways
